Old praktikants visit (and an explination of carnival)

The last weekend in Feb some of last year's praktikants were back in Baden for saturday night. A bunch of them had been invited to something at a university in Germany (I have no idea what it was all about, whatever...) so it was cool that Jay, Haley and Gorana were able to swing through Baden on their way home.

We went out to Pickwicks, it was like old times (even though I hadn't really ever hung out with Haley and Gorana, I imagine it was similar to what old times were like). To make matters more intersting, carnival was going on in Baden that weekend, so the streets were filled with bands and costume-clad Badeners. Honesely, I think carnival time is the only time of the year that Swiss people let loose.

Maybe I'll take this time to explain what the whole deal with carnival is. The main concept is that it falls in the days leading up to lent, to give everyone one last chance to party before having to give up stuff they like. Or so I was told at least...here's Wikipedia's description of carnivals in various places: Carnival
