There is big Christmas market in Zurich at the HB (main train station), and last week a few of us went to check it out after work. It's sponsored by Swarovski, which means that the giant Christmas tree was deocrated with glittering crystals, it was absolutely beautiful. A nice bonus is that I walk through the market every morning on the way to work :)
We spent a few hours walking around looking at the booths, eating free samples and realizing that there is no way that we can afford any of the stuff here (think of the expensiveness of any homemade craft fair, and then factor in the swiss expensiveness....). It was still fun to look though, and we tried some gluwein (a hot, spiced wine).
Adrienn, Evan, Shane and I also wandered down Bahnhoffstrasse, which is famous for it's impressive light display. It was pretty cool... maybe not as great as all the hype though.
Afterwards, we met up with everyone else that was there and we went to a nearby bar for a drink. The bar was cool because it was styled like an airplane...the waitresses were dressed as stewardesses, and there was even some actual airplane seats! Downside: pretty expensive (sigh, this is beginning to be a theme...).
Most people went home earlyish, but Evan, Travis and I stayed in Zurich for a good old night out. We went to another couple of bars and a club, and spent a long time searching for a reccomended bar that may or may not actually exist. The night ended off with us taking the train home the next morning....good times!
